Working with Excel

You can export data from J1 Desktop to Microsoft Excel and copy and paste data between Excel and J1 worksheets.

Exporting to Excel

When you select Export to Excel from the right-click or Options menu of a window, Microsoft Excel opens and the data in the window is exported to Excel, where you can manipulate the data to your specific needs/requirements

Data exported to Excel allows you to:

·       Create various scenarios for comparison.

·       Perform additional data manipulation.

·       Create various charts and graphs based on data.

·       Add a modified version as an attachment to a specific line item of a budget or the worksheet.

Worksheets being exported to Excel can be exported as a single file with one or multiple worksheets or as multiple files.

Copying and Pasting

Data can be copied and pasted between Excel and J1 Desktop worksheets, allowing you to collaborate with others and work with scenarios and computations created in Excel.

You can export a budget worksheet to Excel and distribute it to the English department chair for input. The department chair can make updates and return the worksheet to you. You can then copy the updated budget estimates from Excel and paste them into the budget worksheet.

When copying and pasting between Excel and J1 Desktop, ensure the order of the columns matches.
