A requirement code (examples) is defined on the Requirement Definition window and allows you to further define the requirement type (up to five alphanumeric characters) to allow for specific requirements within the requirement type. Individual requirements can be grouped together into requirement lists that can be attached to a Candidacy row at particular stages.

It works well to use the same codes for test element requirements as you use for the test elements themselves. |

The requirement type of GPA could be further defined as HGPA (high school GPA) or CGPA (college GPA/transfer student).

You may have a Y (Yes) in the Received column and an I (Incomplete) in the Complete Code column.

If your organization chooses not to implement the Automatic Acceptance feature, the requirements are read by the system to determine eligibility to move to a pending stage (if your organization uses a pending stage).
In order for the candidacy to move from an applicant stage to a pending stage (if used), all requirements must be physically received and completed by the Admissions Office.
It is important to understand that when Automatic Acceptance is turned off, the system does not look to see if there are all Ys in the Minimum Met column. Therefore, a candidacy can move into a pending stage and have some or all Ns in the Minimum Met column.

The Minimum Met column can be useful even for those organizations that do not use Automatic Acceptance. Setting up minimum levels either for a global requirement that all prospective students must meet or a minimum for specific programs is a helpful guideline for the Admissions staff to use when determining candidates for admissions. Minimums can also provide important statistical information (e.g., the alumni of your organization may feel that the Admissions Office is not being selective in their admissions process). If minimums have been set, you can run reports at the end of the year to determine the number of admitted students who actually met the minimum requirements. |
· A Candidacy Type of F (freshman) was originally entered into the Maintain Candidacy window.
· TEAMS University defines that all freshman candidates have a requirements list of SATL (SAT total test scores).
· Later, it is discovered that the candidate is not a freshman but a transfer student.
· TEAMS University defines that all transfer students must have a requirements list of TRANS (personal essay, transcript, and a department recommendation).
· If the value is changed in the Type of Cand(idate) column from an F (freshman) to a T (transfer) and never update the new requirements, this particular candidate will never achieve a complete requirements status.

You may have a Y (Yes) in the Received column and an I (Incomplete) in the Complete Code column.

In order to produce Automatic Acceptance, requirement lists are necessary to ensure that all requirement information is added to the database and minimums have been established. The Y (yes) in the Received column and a C (complete) in the Complete Code column indicate that the requirement has been physically received by the Admissions Office.
In order for the system to know that a candidate has met all minimum requirements, a Y must be in the Minimum Met column. In other words, a candidate must meet all minimum program requirements in order to be eligible to receive a Y in the Minimum Met column, which tells the system to move the candidate to an accept stage. All three columns (Received, Complete Code, and Minimum Met) must be complete with a Y, C, and Y respectively in order to move a candidate to an accept stage (thereby activating Automatic Acceptance). If any minimums have not been met, then the candidacy can be moved into a reject stage or you can move the candidacy into a hold stage.
The Hold/Release column is available to hold a requirement and thus prevent a candidacy from moving to a pending stage. When one or more requirements are marked with an H and processing has been performed, the candidacy will move to a hold stage. Changing the H to an R (release) will release the candidacy and move it from a hold stage to a pending stage.
