Corequisite

A specific course that a student needs to take may require that it be taken in conjunction with another course or other courses.

The ART100A course might require that a lab (ART100AL) be taken at the same time. This lab would be defined as a corequisite.

Most institutions base their course corequisite checking on all of the course components. During implementation, you will define the components to be used for corequisite checking. Corequisite checking works very much like prerequisite checking. You will enter a list of courses that must be taken at the same time as the registered course. The example below shows three sections that require the student to take a lab during the same time. The Corequisites use Department, Course Number, Section, and Lab components.

If the student has not registered for each course section on the Corequisite List, a warning message appears during registration and the message will remain until the student registers for the corequisite courses. However, the message may be overridden.
