Use this window to define the placement or aptitude tests required or accepted by your institution. Common tests may include achievement tests, GREs, LSATs, and SATs.
When defining test scores, you can
· Determine what format will be accepted for the test scores and how the test is categorized. For example, tests may be categorized as graduate or undergraduate placement tests.
· Enter the date range
the test was used, allowing selection of the correct version of the test
on the Test
Scores, Maintain Candidacy,
and Review Internet Submission
windows.
· Associate a PESC EDI and/or PESC XML test code with the test.
To define detailed test information, double-click on a specific test name. The Edit Test Elements window appears where you can define test elements and components. For example, the ACT may have English, Math, Reading, and Science Reasoning elements.

Enter the date this test came into use.
· End Date
Enter the last date this test was used, if no longer in use.

Active
Deselect this checkbox to make a test inactive and yet preserve its attributes. This can be used to indicate a test whose end date is in the past but which you are still accepting to meet requirements, such as the changing SAT tests.
Select this checkbox to make the test available to designate as a pre-test for a course for a student.
Select this checkbox to make the test available to designate as a post-test for a course for a student.
This checkbox allows you to designate a test as a possible assessment for Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. These tests are third-party industry-based skills assessments for which your institution receives the results. They can include tests taken for certification, licensure, proficiency or other workforce related reasons. Examples include state examinations to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). You can designate a test with or without elements (subtests) or the subtests themselves as CTE Assessments. To designate only particular elements of a composite test as CTE Assessments, use the Edit Test Elements window.
Select the PESC EDI test code associated with this test for use with the EDI electronic transcript.
Select the PESC XML test code associated with this test for use with the XML electronic transcript.
1. Open the Test Scores Definition window.
2. Choose Add Row from the Options or right-click menu.
3. In the Code column, enter a test code (up to five alphanumeric characters).
4. In the Description column, enter a brief definition of the test code.
5. From the Score Format drop-down list, select the appropriate format in which you want the test score to display. You can select whole number format or a format with one to four decimal places.
6. From the Category drop-down list, select the type of test score. This important information lets Advisors know about important placement test scores.
If a category you need isn't listed, right-click and select Maintain Definitions. The Maintain Definitions window appears where you can add, update, delete, or activate/inactivate test score types. |
7. In the Begin Date column, enter the date this test came into use.
8. In the End Date column, enter the last date this test was used, if no longer in use.
9. From the PESC EDI Code drop-down list, select the appropriate PESC EDI test code to link to this test.
10. From the PESC XML Code drop-down list, select the appropriate PESC XML test code to link to this test.
11. Click the Save button.
12. If the test is broken down into different elements:
a. Right-click and choose Edit Test Elements. The Edit Test Elements window appears.
b. From the Options or right-click menu, choose Add Row.
c. Enter appropriate test element information.
d. Click the Save button and close the Edit Test Elements window. The Test Scores Definition window reappears.
Update an existing test definition
1. Open the Test Scores Definition window.
2. Select the test to be updated.
3. In the Description column, update or enter a brief definition of the test code as needed.
4. From the Score Format drop-down list, update or select the appropriate format in which you want the test score to display as needed. You can select whole number format or a format with one to four decimal places.
5. From the Category drop-down list, update or select the type of test score as needed. This important information lets Advisors know about important placement test scores.

10. Click the Save button.
11. To update test elements:
a. Right-click and choose Edit Test Elements. The Edit Test Elements window appears.
b. Update the appropriate test element information.
c. Click the Save button and close the Edit Test Elements window. The Test Scores Definition window reappears.
1. Open the Test Scores Definition window.
2. Select the test to be deleted.
3. Choose Delete Row from the right-click menu. The delete confirmation message appears.
4. Click the Yes button. A confirmation message appears.
5. Click the Yes button. The test code and all related information such as actual test scores and requirements using this test code are deleted.
Designate a Test as a CTE Assessment
To designate a full test:
Open the Test Scores Definition window.
Select the CTE Assessment checkbox.
Click Save. If the test has elements (subtests), a pop-up asks whether you want to apply your selection to all the test elements.
To designate only certain elements or subtests:
Open the Test Scores Definition window.
Double-click the test
that has the subtests you want to designate.
The Edit Test Elements
window opens.
Select the CTE Assessment checkbox.
Click Save.
Mark a CTE Assessment as Passed
You can mark an assessment as passed only if you first designate the test as a CTE Assessment on the Test Scores Definition window or Edit Test Elements window.
To mark a full test as passed:
Open the Test Scores window.
Enter an ID number.
Select the CTE Assessment Passed checkbox for the test you are tracking.
Click Save.
To mark test elements (subtest) as passed:
Open the Test Scores window.
Enter an ID number.
Double-click the test that has the elements you want
to mark.
The Edit Test Scores
window opens.
Select the CTE Assessment Passed checkbox for the element you are tracking.
Click OK.
Make a Test Eligible to be a Pre- or Post-Test
To make a full test eligible:
Open the Test Scores Definition window.
Select the Active checkbox for the test.
Select Pre-test Eligible, Post-test Eligible, or both.
Click Save. If the test has elements (subtests), a pop-up asks whether you want to apply your selection to all the test elements.
To make only particular test elements (subtests) eligible:
Open the Test Scores Definition window.
Double-click the test that has the subtests you want to designate.
Select the Active checkbox for the subtest.
Select Pre-test Eligible, Post-test Eligible, or both.
Click Save.
Designate a Test as a Pre- or Post-Test
You can start from either the test or the course.
Starting from a Test
To designate a full test:
Open the Test Scores window (or the Maintain Candidacy window | Test Scores tab).
Enter a student's ID Number.
Right-click a test, and click View/Link
[Pre- or] Post-test Courses.
The Student Course Lookup
window opens.
Use the filters for year and term, if you wish.
Select a course, and click Select [Pre- or] Post-test Course.
To designate only particular elements (subtests):
Open the Test Scores window.
Enter a student's ID Number.
Double-click a test.
The Edit Test Scores
window opens.
Select a subtest, and click the View/Edit
Linked [Pre-
or] Post-test Courses
button.
The Student Course Lookup
window opens.
Use the filters for year and term, if you wish.
Select a course, and click Select [Pre- or] Post-test Course.
Starting from a Course
Do one of the following:
From the Courses window | Class List tab: Right-click a student and select Link Pre\Post-test.
From the Student Registration window | Register tab | Student Course Details subtab | Related Tests group: Right-click either field and select Link Pre\Post-test.
From the Student Course Details window | Academic tab: Related Tests group: Right-click either field and select Link Pre\Post-test.
The Test Score Lookup window opens.
Select a test or subtest by clicking a checkbox in the Pre-test or Post-test column.
Click Select Test.
The test then appears in the Placement/Pre-test or Evaluative/Post-test column of Courses, Student Registration, and Student Course Details window.
