The value in this checkbox is used in collecting data for SEVIS reporting.
If a student/exchange visitor enrolls at your institution and if a spouse and/or dependents accompany them to the United States, then the spouse and/or dependents must be included in the SEVIS report. If you enter those relationships in this column, the information is stored in the SEVIS_DEPENDENTS table and both spouse and dependent information is displayed for that ID Number on the Dependents tab of the International Students and Exchange Visitors window when you click the Create New Records button or the Update Existing Records button on the Create/Update SEVIS Records tab of the International Students and Exchange Visitors window.
If a student/exchange visitor works in OPT/CPT, the Create/Update processes captures and displays the appropriate information in the SEVIS tables if employer/employee relationships have been entered on the Relationships tab of the Name Entity window.
