Quick Name Search

Quick Name Search allows you to quickly associate an ID Number and Name by providing information about the name entity so that you can select the correct ID Number without leaving the window in which you are working. This function also allows you to search quickly for Activity Centers and/or windows in those Activity Centers.

Finding the appropriate configuration value for wait time (configurable amount of time) makes the search easier to use since many users pause during entry of their search string but do not want the search to start immediately while they think about the next characters to enter. Jenzabar recommends that values near 1.25 seem to be generally a better choice than values much higher or lower.

You can execute the Quick Name Search by:

1.    Entering known information in any ID Number column according to the following rules:

a.    Enter the Last Name.

b.    Enter the entire or partial Last Name and First Name. The Last Name must be followed by a comma, optional space, and First Name (e.g., Smith, John or Smith,John or Smi,Joh). If you enter less than 3 characters of the last name and no characters of the first name, search performance may be slow.

c.     Enter the individual's SSN in ###-##-#### format (e.g., 123-45-6789).

d.    Enter the individual's Birth Date.

e.    Enter a ZIP Code for the address of the individual or organization. Include a single or double quotation mark in front of the ZIP Code (e.g., '22801 or "22801).

f.     Enter a % sign (wildcard).

g.    The system begins the retrieval process after you enter the selection criteria in the ID Number column and pause for a configurable amount of time.

h.    After the search is complete, press the F4 key or click the drop-down arrow in the ID Number column to view the listing of all names that meet the selection criteria. Also listed are the ID Number, SSN, Birth Date, Address Code, Current Address from the Name Master table, and Phone number.

2.    Entering known information in the Activity Center search column:

a.    Enter the entire or partial name of the Activity Center or J1 Desktop window.

b.    The system begins the retrieval process after you enter the selection criteria and pause for a configurable amount of time.

c.     A listing that meets the selection criteria is displayed.
