IPEDS Normal & Allowable Months to Completion

These fields appear on the CIP Definition window, Award Levels tab:

When defining the CIP Award Levels, you can indicate the expected (Normal) number of months it takes to complete the degree or certification in addition to the maximum (Allowable) number of months to complete the same program. Usually, the maximum number is extended to 150% of the normal number. The values below can be entered on the Maintain Configuration Table window in the Common module to identify the normal and allowable months for completion.

The Normal and Allowable Months to Completion is used in the IPEDS GRS Report. The Normal and Allowable Months columns are used on the GRS Student Data tab to calculate the GRS Normal Finish Years and GRS Years Used to Complete columns. The values in the GRS Normal Finish Years and GRS Years Used to Complete columns are used to determine if the student’s Completion Status is Completed in Normal Time or Completed in Over Normal Time.

A Populate Award Level Months button will appear on the Awards Level tab only when there are CIP Award Level rows that do not contain values in this column.
