At times, students are in a program of study that has a very defined list of courses that must be taken. These courses may even need to be taken in a predetermined order. These lists of predefined courses can be defined in the Group Registration table and identified by a group code. Assigning this code to a student provides the ability to automatically register students who have a particular group registration code for the list of predefined courses.
This code (example) can be up to 10 characters in length.
Group Registration may be run individually by student or in batches. Batch registration allows you to register all students who have previously been identified with a Group Registration Code.
Once you have listed the prescribed courses for a group, you can quickly register or pre-register those students for the courses without entering the individual courses for each student. You will need to perform the following steps to use Group Registration:
· Set up the group registration definitions
· Assign students to groups
· Register students for courses by accessing the Student Registration window or running the batch group registration
To set up the group registration definitions, you must first decide on your groups. A registration group is defined as any collection of students who will take the same courses at the same time. Therefore, you will want to define your groups according to the year and term when a group of students begin their program.
Once you have defined the group code, list the prescribed courses for each group. Since the course list for each group is based on the entries in the Section Master table, you must set up your Section Master table for each term before you enter that terms courses on the group course list. Example
If Group Registration encounters any error on a set of courses for a given student (such as prerequisite, time conflict, student already registered for a course in that year and term), registrations will occur for all other students in the group for whom no errors have been encountered.
You may view the application log to determine which registrations were
