A Grade Scale is a set of valid grades that offer different grading scales for different divisions. For each grade scale, you must define all of the valid combinations of credit types and grades. You must define grade scales before defining the Grade Table.
Although most institutions use only one grade scale, you may require different scales to handle the following situations:
· The grading system changed at some point in your institution's history. You may have changed the quality points associated with each grade, added or removed + (plus) and - (minus) grades, or changed from a numeric grading system to a letter grading system.
· Divisions within the institution use different grade scales to rate student performance.
On the Courses window and the Courses (Non-Traditional) window, Grade Scale appears on two subtabs of the Courses tab. On the Master 1 subtab, in the Grade Related group, it represents a Final grading period. However, on the Grading subtab, each grading period has its own grade scale assigned.
