Each student course is associated with a code that represents the term. This term code (up to 2 alphanumeric characters) and associated description (up to 30 alphanumeric characters) are defined on the Term Definition window. The term code (examples) can be joined with a year code to define a specific year/term code. If your organization purchased the Registration module, the Registrar will define term codes.
A term is a subset of an academic year. Common synonyms for a term are semesters, trimesters, quarters, or sessions. Terms should be coded so that they will sort in chronological order.

The code for Fall semester should be less than the code for Spring semester. In the sorting hierarchy, letters are sorted before numbers; therefore, term ZZ would precede term 01. |
