Division Codes

A division code (examples) is used to distinguish the different levels of courses or students at your school. Use the division codes your school has already defined in Registration. You must make an entry in the window for each combination of division and term defined by your organization.

Student/Course Division Definition

Division codes are used to distinguish between different levels of courses or students. It is important to note that this code is separate and distinct from the institutional division code. Some courses are offered only at the graduate division, others at the undergraduate division level, and others may be offered only in the continuing education division.

Students are also classified based on their division code. At the time of course registration, J1 will assign a division code to each student course registration based on the previously identified division code for the course or the previously identified division code for the student. Here are some things to remember about division codes.

·       During the pre-installation phase of implementation, you decided whether J1 should assign the student division code or the course division code to the student course row. That decision has been recorded in the Registration Configuration table.

·       The division code assigned by J1 determines the way courses will be grouped for calculating academic totals and for generating transcripts. This will be referred to as transcript division from the point of registration throughout the rest of the system. If necessary, the code assigned by the system can be changed.
