You can override a course's scheduled Days of the Week and the Begin Time and End Time. You might do that for online courses, directed learning, or courses whose schedules are yet to be determined.
You override a course schedule by using the Days Override drop-down list on the Courses window | Schedule tab. The values for the drop-down list are defined on the Maintain Table Values window and stored in the Table Details table. The column name is days_tim_ovrid.
When a course's schedule is overridden, the selected Days Override value displays in the Student Schedule Report, the Professor Schedule Report, and the Room Schedule Report.
A course with no fixed schedule is a non-calendared course. In the My Schedule feature in CRM Students, students can register for non-calendared courses just as they do for calendared courses.
A non-calendared course is defined as either having no Days of the Week and Begin and End Time set, or else having a value in the Days Override column.
If a course has a value in the Days Override column, specified, the course won't appear on the corresponding location's calendar in J1 Web.
A course can have more than one schedule record. As long as one of the records qualifies as a calendared course, the course is calendared. If none of the records qualifies, the course is non-calendared.
A course has two schedule records. That is, it’s set up to meet Monday and Wednesday in odd weeks, and Tuesday and Thursday in even weeks. The Monday – Wednesday record has a value selected in Days Override, but the Tuesday – Thursday record does not. Therefore, the course is still a calendared course. For students, the course will appear as scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays in even weeks. Likewise, in the J1 Web Facility calendars, the course will appear as scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays in even weeks.
