Auto Spouse Soft Credit

This option is dependent upon the Spouse ID column being populated in the Biograph Master table (Biographical Data window).

When you accept a gift, the soft credit ID Number should have a default constituency code. If, for some reason, there is no default constituency code, the following message is displayed: "You must have a Constituency Code. Edit Transaction and choose a relationship."

Soft credit is a means of recognizing a donor's spouse as also giving to your organization, but it does not affect Business Office transactions.

A donor from the class of 1988 gives $500. You can soft credit the spouse who is from the class of 1989 with $500 so that in your annual report to donors, both classes reflect that gift.

This checkbox controls whether soft credit is automatically generated for the donor's spouse when a donor gives a gift.

Select the checkbox to have soft credit automatically generated for the spouse. The spouse's soft credit can be removed manually during gift entry, but it must be done before the gift is accepted.
Clear the checkbox, and the soft credit is not automatically created for the spouse. The spouse's soft credit can be added manually during gift entry, but it must be done before the gift is accepted.
