Source Type (CM)

The Source Type (examples) uses a code to identify the origination of an individual's interest in your organization and is the primary description to the Source Code (e.g., a referral, college fair, newspaper article, guidebook, etc.). The Source Type is the primary definition, and the Source Code further defines the primary Source Type.

The Source Type Code, which is defined on the Source Type Definition window, can be up to 5 alphanumeric characters and is associated with a text description of up to 30 alphanumeric characters. Source Types must be defined prior to defining Source Codes, since Source Codes are secondary definitions of Source Types.

Source Definition window

The Source Type drop-down list displays defined Source Types. The default Source Type is All Source Types. Select the appropriate Source Type for filtering rows.

Candidate tab of Maintain Candidacy window

The values in the Source Type drop-down list are not saved in the J1 database. The values are only used for filtering the list of Sources.  Also, during the DSU run, you will be prompted for a default Source Type Code to use for any rows in the Sources table where the Source Type is currently null/empty.
