The Place Earned column on both the Degree History window and the Degree tab on the Student Information window indicates the organization where the student earned their degree.
When you open the Degree tab of the Student Information window in Registration, the drop-down list for this column is empty. However, *LOCAL defaults into this column under the following three scenarios. This default is necessary for compiling data for IPEDS Completions and GRS reporting.
· · When a new Student Master row is created (i.e., a new student is entered into the system).
· · When the user chooses Add Row on the Degree History and Student Information windows.
· · When the user adds a new person into the system and attempts to register that student for courses when they do not already have a Student Master row.
