Purpose Definition Window

Purposes and security for the collection of institutional reporting data are defined in the Purpose Definition window. You can add new purpose codes, update existing purpose codes, and assign or remove permissions to specific purpose codes. Data for Snapshots with the same purpose can be compared across days, months, or years. The Purpose Code (if permitted) is for selecting or creating Snapshots.

If you try to delete a row that has dependent data, the following message is displayed: "Dependent data exists. You must clear the dependent data before deleting this code."

Purpose Tab

The columns on the Purpose tab are used to define and maintain Purpose Codes and to designate the criteria to build Snapshots.

Purpose Permission Tab

Users must belong to a Tasklist Security group with permission to the Purpose Code to collect data for that purpose. Permissions are granted by adding rows on the Purpose Permission tab. Many of the Jenzabar-provided Purpose Codes have default permissions defined for J1_ADMIN and the J1 module manager group. The Purpose Permission tab is used to assign permissions to additional groups who can also use this Purpose Code.
