This window is used to define a requirement type, thereby allowing for specific requirement definition and minimum criteria.
Typically, organizations require that candidates submit standardized test scores. In order to correlate these test scores with specific requirements, you must define the correlation and store it in the Requirements table. This allows you to define the requirement code that correlates with the specific test and to establish minimum values that must be met. In addition to defining minimum values for test scores, you can also define minimum values for unit, rank, and GPA (optional).
You can customize requirements for specific programs. The minimum values you assign to a given requirement will be a standard minimum for all candidates unless you customize them. |
The standard minimum GPA could be 2.5; however, under the requirement list for the pre-med program, you could customize the minimum GPA to 3.0. |
· If your organization chooses to use the Automatic Acceptance feature, you must enter information into these minimum columns (as appropriate for the requirement code and type). The system will check these columns for minimum requirements and determine if a candidate is eligible for acceptance.
The Minimum Met column can be useful even for those organizations that do not use Automatic Acceptance. Setting up minimum levels either for a global requirement that all prospective students must meet or a minimum for specific programs is a helpful guideline for the Admissions staff to use when determining candidates for admissions. Minimums can also provide important statistical information (e.g., the alumni of your organization may feel that the Admissions Office is not being selective in their admissions process). If minimums have been set, you can run reports at the end of the year to determine the number of admitted students who actually met the minimum requirements. |
· If your organization is not using the Automatic Acceptance feature, you may still want to set up minimums to establish guidelines for acceptance, which can be particularly helpful if your organization experiences staff turnover. The new counselor can immediately know the established minimums for acceptance. These minimums can also be used to gather statistics.
