Jenzabar J1 Desktop provides schools with a default Import Utility Profile upon initial implementation of J1 Desktop. This profile is stored in the IU_UPLOAD_CRITERIA table. Import Utility Profiles are managed on the Upload Criteria tab of the Admissions Import Utility window. Schools can set the Upload Criteria tab as needed for a specific purpose and save those settings to a profile as a text file. Later, when they need to import data again for that purpose, they can load the saved profile settings to quickly reset the Upload Criteria required for that import.
Updating the profile on the Upload Criteria tab or loading a saved profile will replace the default Import Utility Profile with the updated configuration.
Once schools customize their Upload Criteria, any changes made by Jenzabar to the default Profile need to be manually incorporated into existing profiles. Jenzabar is providing two sample Profiles. These include the new fields and not the obsolete fields related to military service data.
1. IU_Upload_Criteria_ALL_NOT_USED_Profile.txt
This profile has only a few columns set to ‘Used’, the few required columns.
You can use this to create new profiles by selecting the Used, Required,
and Dup Search checkboxes as needed for your imports and for saving new
profiles.
2. IU_Upload_Criteria_ALL_USED_Profile.txt
This profile has all of the columns set to ‘Used’. This also can be used
to create new profiles, but by deselecting the Used columns and selecting
the Required and Dup Search checkboxes as needed. Use this profile only
if you want to recreate a profile that uses a large number of the possible
IU data columns. It helps to save configuration time over the profile
with none of the columns selected.
Much of the following information is available in the Jenzabar Online Help. You may find it useful to review the Online Help as it details information about the Import Utility Process that will enhance your overall understanding of this feature.
Save a copy of your current profile before running the Load Profile option if the current profile is specific to a particular source file format.
The Load Profile option opens the same pop-up window as the Microsoft generic File | Open option, and it allows you to select a specific profile to load. This profile will be used to replace any existing configurations on the Upload Criteria tab.
The Save Profile option opens the same pop-up window as the Microsoft generic File | Save option and allows you to save different profiles that can be accessed at a later date and used in the Upload Criteria selection.
Save a copy of your current profile before running the Clear Profile option.
Selecting Clear Profile will remove all of the rows from the Upload Criteria tab and the corresponding IU_UPLOAD_CRITERIA table.
