Use this window to define occupational skills for the Texas CBM00M report about Occupational Skills Awards (OSA). An OSA is equivalent to a major, so you create a definition by selecting a major. In the top part of the window, you define the OSAs. In the bottom part, you assign required courses to the OSAs.
Major: Select a major code. The field includes the code, description, division, and degree for the majors.
Requirements Needed: Select the number of courses required for the OSA in this major. If you leave this blank or enter 0, then it's assumed that all the major's courses are required. Note: If this definition is already used in a snapshot, you can't change the number of requirements.
Active: The definition is active by default, but you can deselect it.
Effective Date: The default date is the date the definition is created. Note: If this definition is already used in a snapshot, you can't change the Effective Date.
Expiration Date: Leave blank if you don't want the definition to expire. The Expiration Date can't be set to earlier than the latest snapshot date where this definition is used.
Priority Order: The sequence is set automatically, but you can edit it unless the definition is already used in a snapshot.
The data is stored on the State Reporting Occupational Skills Award Definitions table (strpt_occupational_skills_award_def).
Occupational skills definitions are used in the Texas CBM00M report. In the process of preparing the CBM00M report, the information appears in the Sate Reporting Snapshot Data window. There you verify your information. If you find errors, you can either correct them there only in the snapshot (which does not correct them in your permanent records) or go back to the Occupational Skills Definitions window and make corrections.
