Salutation Definition Window

Information updated in Desktop also updates the Salutation Definitions page in J1 Web and vice versa.
For clients using version 2019.4 or higher, web salutations no longer control how names appear in the campus portal (JICS). This means a web salutation code created on the Salutation Definition window no longer needs to be associated with an individual or organization on the Name Entity window, Salutations tab. For more detailed information about how legal names and campus names are handled in the system and in conjunction with the campus portal, see the release news information: PDF version available on MyJenzabar (https://www.myjenzabar.net/ICS/icsfs/J1_2019.4_Release_News.pdf?target=1c18e6b1-b763-4524-b94b-d3c960cdae5d).

You can define several salutations per person to use when writing and sending a letter and in displaying names in campus portal (JICS). It is not necessary to have a salutation code for every person. Salutation codes (examples) are to be used for exceptions (not the norm) to the general rules of addressing.

The Salutation Definition table contains a row for each salutation that your organization defines on the Salutation Definition window. The actual customized salutation text (for example, "Dear Johnny Boy") for each person is added on the person's row in the Donor Master table and the Salutation table. When you add the salutation to a person, you must select which salutation you are adding from the choices available in this Salutation Definition table.

This window is used to enter those salutations that your organization will use for greetings on letters, reminders, and other items produced by the system.
